House of the Dragon is set in the golden age of the Targaryen dynasty, when dragons ruled the skies of westeros on the skies of Westeros. When King Viserys I Targaryen passes, a vicious struggle ensues between his daughter Rhaenyra Targaryen and his son Aegon II Targaryen. They battle each other until a terrible civil war breaks out, dubbed The Dance of the Dragons., he names his daughter Rhaenyra Targaryen as the new heir to the Iron Throne.
But when Viserys marries Alicent Hightower, and they have sons who are also heirs to the throne, there’s a problem. Factions form between the followers of Rhaenyra and Alicent’s son Aegon II. Later in time these competing groups will be called the Blacks and the Greens.

Production Details
House of the Dragon is created by Game of Thrones’ George R. R. Martin and Ryan Condal for HBO following the massive success of the series. The creators wished to concentrate on the Targaryen family and civil war dubbed the Dance of Dragons.
The production cost of the series is very high and reports said that almost $20 million were spent on each episode of the first season. The show includes impressive sets, vivid dragon animation, elaborate costumes and cinematic battle scenes.
